5 Insider Tips For Filling Out Our Maker Submission ⭐
A new monthly series that features all things behind the scenes at The DIME Store.
Are you a maker and want The DIME Store to carry your work? In this issue of Behind the DIME, we share our tips for applying to our shop through our maker submission!
Take a look below!
First and foremost, apply using our Maker Submission form! Please know we do NOT accept in-store or phone submissions, so we can focus on our amazing customers. We look at submissions in groups at specific intervals, rather than one at a time as they come in.
(Pro tip: Our maker submission form is closed between 9/1-12/31 so we can focus on our busy Fall + Holiday season. It reopens in early January!)Get to know us and our shop! Take a look at our online shop and Instagram. Consider if your work fits within our overall aesthetic and mission. We curate and create items that are handmade, small-batch, and independently designed. In addition, we are partial to items that are made by local and Texas-based creators. Not from Texas? That’s okay, it’s not a requirement! We also carry work from a variety of makers across the country!
You don’t need to be a wholesale expert to apply to our shop, but we do encourage new applicants to get familiar with wholesale terms and pricing. Luckily, there are a ton of resources available online now. We recommend taking a look at Etsy blog posts or searching Pinterest, Youtube, or Google!!
Have at least 10 items for us to take a look at on your website or social media account. Since we don’t take in person submissions, we need to look at several photos of your offering to get a good feel for your work.
Know that your products may be a great fit, but it just doesn’t work for right now. We say that with encouragement and gratitude. At The DIME Store, there’s a ton of things we consider when partnering with makers and placing orders for our store. In addition to product specs, we also have to think about things like… if it’s the right season for the item, or if we have the room for merchandising and storage. It has to be a win-win.
We keep all submissions on file for future buying!
We hope these tips are helpful, and maybe not just for our shop, but in sharing your work with other brick and mortars! Take a look at and read more about our maker submission here! And thank you for reading this issue of Behind the DIME. :)
