5 Reasons to Take a Workshop at The DIME Store
A monthly series that features all things behind the scenes at The DIME Store.
This month, we’re sharing all about workshops. Savannah Kurka is our wonderful workshop coordinator. She creates our workshop calendar, works with teachers, helps set up classes, and teaches classes too!! We chatted with her about our amazing workshop calendar and her favorite reasons to take a workshop at The DIME Store.
1. ALL MATERIALS ARE PROVIDED
We make it easy to learn a new skill and enjoy yourself! With every workshop, our goal is to inspire your creative side while giving an opportunity to slow down and try something new! We provide all of the materials you will need and have beverages to enjoy while you learn so all you need to do is show up and enjoy.
2. TAKE TIME TO SLOW DOWN
One of the biggest reasons is to nurture your mental health! Our lives are so busy, keeping us moving from task to task. It can be rare to carve away time to slow down and work with our hands, creating something beautiful. One of our biggest goals is to create an easy way to make that space for yourself to slow down and enjoy the benefits that art making can have for your mind and soul. We often have folks join us for a workshop after a hard day at work and it brings us endless joy when we hear how the workshop helped them let go of the stresses of their day.
3. MAKE NEW FRIENDS
Another reason is to meet new friends. We love hearing stories of friendships formed at our workshops! When you sign up for a workshop, you already have one thing in common with everyone else in the room and there is a good chance you will find more! They are a fun way to bond with your friends, family, or co-workers! Workshops are the perfect friends night out. Grab dinner or drinks beforehand and then enjoy a night of creating together. 4. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY
We want it to be relaxing, engaging, and educational! We want you to leave with new knowledge, something physical that you have made yourself (how empowering is that?!) and a fun memory! We also strive to make all of our workshops beginner friendly. The skill levels in each class will vary greatly and no previous art making experience is necessary unless otherwise noted. All are welcomed and encouraged!
5. THERE ARE NEW CLASSES HAPPENING IN 2023!
We are working with more new instructors than ever before this year and already have a few new classes up our sleeves. Just in March, we will be offering floral arranging classes, cookie decorating, a sewing machine crash course, and book making! Stay tuned for even more. :)
